In France more cosmetics are worn by married men than by their wives. This probably excludes lipsticks - women it seems get through about 5lbs of it in their lifetime. In the 16th century women in Italy considered considered it the height of fashion to colour their teeth. Only within the last couple of hundred years have children had their own distinct range of clothing - prior to this they would have worn smaller versions of adult garments. In the middle ages in order to show off their wares fashion designers made doll sized versions of their garments to display the latest offerings. And the height of fashion in the 18th century, amongst other things, was the wearing of false eyebrows made from small animal skins.
